NOC has been guiding rafting trips for over 50 years throughout the Southeast! The French Broad River located in Western North Carolina’s Pisgah National Forest, is the world’s third-oldest river featuring warm water, big sky mountain views, and plenty of fun Class II and III rapids, like Big Pillow, S-Turn, and The Ledges. Raft five miles on one of NOC’s half-day trips, or spend the day and enjoy eight miles of exciting whitewater – including the Class IV Frank Bell’s rapid – plus a freshly-prepared riverside lunch.
Enjoy learning about the rich history of the river from NOC’s elite River Guides, from the earliest Native American settlers to the industrialization of Asheville. Keep your eyes open for wildlife including heron, kingfishers, bald eagles, and even the occasional black bear!
NOC’s outpost is just 30 minutes from downtown Asheville, so you can have fun on the river and still make it back to town in time for dinner. If you are looking for a family-friendly adventure just outside of the city, this river is perfect for you!
