Through the BID, you’ll find street ambassadors who serve as visible, friendly guides, as well as supplemental cleaning crews who help ensure public spaces stay vibrant and welcoming for everyone.

Safety Tips
The Asheville area is a place where most visitors feel inspired and at ease. That said, it’s a city—and traveling with awareness and common sense is always a good idea. We recommend a few simple practices, just like locals use every day:
- Lock your car and keep valuables out of sight.
- Stick to well-lit and well-populated areas after dark.
- Don’t hesitate to ask a business owner or local for help—they’ll likely be happy to point you in the right direction.
- The city’s most visited neighborhoods—including downtown, West Asheville, Biltmore Village, and the River Arts District—are known for their walkability, vibrancy, and strong community presence. These areas stay active into the evening with live music, dining, events, and shopping. During the day, parks and trails surrounding the city provide plenty of room to roam.
- The nearby towns of Black Mountain, Weaverville, Fairview and Woodfin are considered safe as well.
