Asheville Museum of Science Downtown Expansion

The Asheville Museum of Science will expand into the long-vacant adjacent space at 1 Haywood St., doubling its public footprint. The expansion project includes a 4,000-sq.-ft. open exhibit space for permanent and rotating displays, as well as a 2,000-sq.ft. The Maker Lab, which offers programs and hosts visiting groups, significantly enhances Asheville's family-friendly indoor attractions.

The project is expected to break ground by Nov. 2025, with construction and the first exhibit buildouts complete by May 2026.
