I'm Michael, an Asheville-based documentary wedding photographer photographing weddings throughout Asheville, Western North Carolina, and the Blue Ridge Mountains.
I work with couples who want to spend their wedding day with the people they love, rather than feeling like they're spending it in front of a camera. My approach is rooted in photojournalism: documenting real interactions, honest emotions, and the moments that happen when you're fully present.
From mountain weddings and intimate ceremonies to larger celebrations at Asheville's established venues, I focus on photographs that reflect what the day actually felt like. That includes the big moments everyone expects, as well as the smaller ones you might not even notice happening.
I provide guidance when it's useful, especially for family photographs and portraits, without turning the day into a staged production. Many of the couples I work with are planning their Asheville weddings from out of state, so I also help them think through photography timing, natural light, and how to make room for the parts of the day that matter to them.
