$400 Million Expansion Brings a New Terminal
AVL Forward, the airport’s historic infrastructure project, will create a new terminal that is 150% larger than the current one, expanding from 7 gates to 12 gates.
First Phase Complete
The Asheville Regional Airport unveiled the first phase of its $400 million terminal expansion in June 2025 , marking a major milestone in the largest infrastructure project in its history. The newly opened North Concourse features seven gates, expanded seating, updated concessions, and a modern design inspired by the surrounding Blue Ridge Mountains. With the South Concourse now under construction and set to open by 2027, the project will more than double the airport’s size—enhancing capacity, improving passenger flow, and cementing AVL’s role as a key travel hub for Western North Carolina.
