• Wai Mauna SUP Tours offers guided paddleboard tours and self-guided rentals on Asheville's French Broad River. Groups of up to 45 people can enjoy a sunny, summer day on the water with professionally-trained instructors, and you can stand on the boards, sit on the boards—even just lie down and sun tan. All of the boards are wide and stable and even first-time paddlers and beginners should be able to paddle with ease. To really kick start the day with a big group, watch the sunrise from out on the river on a 5:30am "Dawn Patrol," where the morning mists lift off the river and the sun lights a fire on the eastern horizon. For meeting groups that are visiting in fall, October is one of the nicest months to experience the river in Asheville, as water temperatures are as warm as in June, and you're immersed in fall foliage while out on the water, but without any of the crowds. The 4-mile trips pass through Asheville's River Arts District, and 7 mile trips weave through Biltmore Estate property, offering views of America's largest home. Portions of proceeds are donated to non-profits who aid in river conservation, there are 10% discounts for groups of 8 or more, and trips are available from April-October.
