- Up Jumped Three is a trio of musicians (Bryan White - Double Bass, Frank Southecorvo - Saxophones, and Tim Winter - Guitars) who bring unique perspectives and years of experience to the bandstand with regard to composing, selection of material, and overall concept of sound. For Bryan and Frank, it reunites two former bandmates from a prior project, 'Done For The Evening', a trio that focused on a chord-less sound with upright and electric bass, sax, and drums, which gigged actively from 2006 to 2010. Revisiting the trio format after a long hiatus, this time with chords, Frank and Bryan started casually playing together again in mid/late 2013. Frank had met Tim in 2012 and was immediately taken by his rich tone and interesting playing (on both guitar and bass). At Frank’s urging and invitation, Tim was asked to round out the lineup of the new group.
All three members are accomplished and prolific composers across many different genres with unique and singular compositional voices and approaches, and the collective sound of Up Jumped Three has evolved into a very unique entity, fusing colors and shades of ‘cool’ West Coast jazz, free jazz, and even blues and R&B at times, resulting in a drummer-less ‘chamber jazz’ sound that is at once dynamic, engaging, and lyrical.
The group released its first official album in February of 2016 (‘Eleven Dialogues’), and just released its newest album, 'Crosstalk', in June 2017.
