Located in the historic YMI (Young Men's Institute) building and home to the YMI Cultural Center, (the oldest African-American cultural center in the country) and in the oldest African-American business district in the country, THE BLOCK off biltmore is a community-gathering space offering cocktails, conversation, music and art, in an environmentally friendly, "living room" atmosphere. We feature local and regional spirits from wind and solar powered distilleries as well as "mocktails" (non-alcoholic beverages) organic, vegan beer, wine, spirits, food and fun. THE BLOCK off biltmore also is a hotspot of local entertainment in downtown Asheville, where every drink makes a difference. It’s not just about the libations and music, it’s about making friends, creating community, lifting up and giving back. We’re a melting pot where people of all walks of life can feel safe, comfortable and welcomed. And, by supporting THE BLOCK off biltmore you also support the YMI Cultural Center.
