Established in 1992, The Autumn Players was sponsored by Asheville Community Theatre (ACT). The Autumn Players (TAP) is a community outreach group of mostly seniors dedicated to taking theater into the community. Membership in TAP is open to all who are interested and able to participate. No dues. No age limit. TAP’s mission is to provide entertainment, enrichment, and education to the greater Asheville community in accordance with the mission and vision of ACT, and to provide seniors with opportunities for creative expression in the theater arts. Most performances by TAP are presented as readers theater. Programming includes the following: community outreach performances, play reading for pleasure, monthly poetry readings at care facilities, Readers Theatre Showcase (RTS), and school programs. Since its inception, TAP has entertained thousands of students, seniors, and in-betweens at a variety of venues.
