Rebecca King Hawkinson is one of the most important and well collected American Contemporary Artists to emerge from Asheville, NC. Hawkinson worked as a student to Fresco Master Ben Long IV from 1999-2001. Consequently, she worked as a studio assistant to Long, a fresco apprentice, and as a color assistant. In addition Hawkinson began plein air painting in 1999 on a trip to Europe. Then, in subsequent years, Hawkinson returned to the fields of Europe to create works of art. As a result, Hawkinson built a sizable collection of fine art. Many of these works of art are now housed in the private art collections in Europe and the United States. Hawkinson taught drawing and oil painting from 2005-2012 at the Fine Arts League of the Carolinas in Asheville. She employs a ready knowledge of the craft. She works directly from nature. The artist builds each painting with care. She uses only the finest hand ground paints and painting mediums. Hawkinson regularly travels nationally and internationally to paint and study the world’s greatest masterpieces.
