We are a twenty-one year-old, internationally-known tour company and educational organization. We have a wildly different approach to team-building and unforgettable events. We offer the only year-round, u-pick, forage-to-table experience in North America, and we’re based in the richest temperate ecosystem on Earth.
We take courageous consumers “out to eat” — outside, that is. We offer:
Our signature experience involves both lookin’ and cookin’. We lead go-getters on a woodland shopping spree, gathering wild mushrooms, plants, and other “extreme cuisine.” After our wild gooseberry chase, it’s finders, eaters as we cook up a sampling of our catch of the day. Then it’s Survivor meets Iron Chef as your group — or one of our three partner restaurants — transforms the rest of your quarry into find dining. Wild mushroom pizza, daylily tamales, sassafras root beer, wisteria ice cream… it all depends on what we find. What better way to get a true taste of a place, to really “take in the landscape?”
Our tours have been ranked one of ten best gift experiences by Southern Living and one of Fodor’s best food experiences in the world. We have been featured on Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern and in USA Today, Travel+Leisure, Conde Nast Traveler, The Washington Post, The New Yorker, and dozens of other major media outlets.
We have taught “self-catering” to Dr. Andrew Weil (twice on the cover of Time), Christie Hefner (former CEO of Playboy), the owner of The Biltmore Estate, VPs of Shell, Amoco, Aon, Motorola, Cracker Barrel, and The American Heart Association, the General Counsel for the Army, the PR team for Michelin North America, the head of The American Bar Association, a number of James Beard chefs, and the founder of Mother Earth News.
Our group offerings have been featured in Successful Meetings, Meetings Focus, Meetings & Conventions, The Meeting Professional, Collaborate, Corporate & Incentive Travel, Going on Faith, Lodging, Hotelier International, and more.
We have packages with a variety of Asheville accommodations. Proceeds benefit our youth program. Prices vary with the program and the size of the group. For a memorable lesson in high-class survival, forage ahead...
