District 42® is a convergence of small shareable plates, warm hospitality, and craft cocktails in the vibrant center of downtown Asheville, on the ground floor of the Kimpton Hotel Arras. Our all-day lounge and expansive bar is open seven days a week offering a mix of tables and soft seating. Our sister restaurant Bargello® features full-service whole preparations to share around the table.
We invite you to sit back and relax in the lounge or outdoor patio while you share great food and libations made with house-made juices, regionally-sourced bitters, and just a dash of downtown Asheville’s celebrated history.

From Zelda & Scott Fitzgerald to O. Henry, Thomas Wolfe, and Wilma Dykeman, this city has been a magnet for people who thrive in its creative, literary, and energizing environment. We wanted to bottle that sense of place where this history could converge at the very core of our location and be celebrated among friends. Named after the original 42 lots running along Biltmore and Broadway Ave, District 42™ is an ode to the past, present and future narratives of downtown Asheville.
