Black Mountain Inn
#3 of 6 B&Bs / Inns in Black Mountain
- This historic Inn sits atop a knoll on three lovely acres. It was built in the 1830s as a stage coach stop, then serving as a TB sanitorium at the turn of the 20th century. The Inn re-opened in the 1940s as Oak Knoll Studio, an artist's retreat which hosted such luminaires as authors Ernest Hemingway and John Steinbeck, opera diva Joan Sutherland and celebrated American Helen Keller. All private baths, a full breakfast is included, and guests can choose from seven guest rooms. In 1990 the Black Mountain Inn was opened and once again welcomes travelers with authentic hospitality!
