Echoes of the Forest is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that transforms fallen trees from Hurricane Helene into public art, supporting local artists and fostering community resilience in Western North Carolina. The organization salvages storm-damaged trees and partners them with woodworkers and local artists to create meaningful art pieces that educate the public about this historic 1000-year weather event and its impact on the region's forests.
Proceeds benefit the artists, woodworkers, and communities devastated by the hurricane. With approximately 40% of Buncombe County's trees damaged or destroyed and an estimated $59.6 billion in economic impact across 39 western North Carolina counties, Echoes of the Forest honors the fallen trees while helping rebuild affected communities through art and environmental education.
