Autumn Stargazing on the Farm

Join us as we celebrate the beauty and richness of the fall night sky over the Farm. Our friend, astronomer, author, and natural storyteller Stephan Martin will guide us through the splendid starscape of a cool October evening in the mountains.

As the first quarter moon sets, Stephan will give us an orientation to the bright stars, constellations, and planets of the autumn sky. This is a perfect time to view Saturn shining in the south and to catch a glimpse of the majestic Andromeda Galaxy—a stunning sight through binoculars.

We’ll explore seasonal favorites like Pegasus the Winged Horse, Cygnus the Swan, and Lyra, the Lyre of Orpheus, and share the timeless stories woven into these constellations. To finish, we’ll take a sneak peek at the winter constellations just beginning to rise above the eastern horizon. We may even be surprised by some meteors from the Orionid and Taurid meteor showers active at this time of year.

Before the program begins:

Check in at the will-call list (no physical tickets required) inside the Farm Store! We'll have Build-Your-Own Charcuterie boards, wine, sodas, beer, local sweets and more to snuggle down and enjoy.

What to Bring:

Check the weather and dress accordingly. We recommend blankets or camp chairs, good shoes for walking the grounds, and any telescopes, binoculars, or spyglasses you’d like to bring along for an even closer look.
