Halloween is a time for scary stories and delicious beer, and luckily we have both! Our latest brewery-only can release is Zombie Story, a New England IPA brewed with Citra and Simcoe Powder and dry hopped with an extra hefty amount of Citra and Columbus. We were lucky to find out that local Asheville artist Julie Armbruster had the perfect picture and story to fit with our spooky brew. Read her creepy tale below and get ready for the horrifying release of Zombie Story!!! Zombie Story by Julie Armbruster. Elmore is a grey duck with a heart full of rage and dissatisfaction due to his mother’s denial of carbs as a child. He decided his daily effort of plotting and scheming to kill his owner, Potato Boy, was growing a bit tiresome. He wanted to do something else, so he signed up for a monthly spot on the Story Stump. He loved to tell stories of evil uprisings and lawless mayhem and was quite an engaging speaker. He stumbled across a very disturbing zombie story full of all of his favorite dark feelings at a local flea market. The Story Stump was nestled on the edge of a swampy peninsula. Elmore chose an evening reading slot in hopes that he could meet other dissatisfied creatures and was gifted a special bonus this evening with the addition of a full moon. He could not have chosen a better backdrop or atmosphere for his reading. Today’s audience consisted of Fiona Slugmuffin and Kirby Lockwood. Fiona was more of a late add-on and hadn’t planned on listening to the story, but was giving it a try since she was in the area and a little tired of skulking. Kirby, on the other hand, was a natural listener and attended all of the Story Stump readings no matter when or where they occurred. As the odd grouping of characters settled into their places, a strange green glow rose out of the lagoon. Bubbling waves clouded up the water and the more Elmore read from the book, the more the waves would curdle. Little did they know, but the zombie story had been cursed and was not a work of fiction, but rather a summoning text to invoke actual zombies! Every little piece was exactly in place for the summoning and the story time was about to get real interesting. Fiona was not impressed and felt the theatrics of the zombies was overly dramatic. More of an observer, then a man of action, Kirby will have to decide if he will rise to the occasion or stay isolated in his inner world of fantasy and fiction. Lastly, a mysterious creature listened and waited under the Story Stump. Will they be a hero, a villain, a neutral pair of eyeballs? Zombie Story beer may reveal all the answers. Now is the time to drink and see what happens!
