The seventh annual World Bonsai Day is an internationally celebrated event dedicated to furthering bonsai awareness and appreciation world-wide. Initiated by the World Bonsai Friendship Federation (WBFF) in honor of Mr. Saburo Kato, the world bonsai patron and founder of WBFF, World Bonsai Day is recognized annually on the second Saturday of May. The North Carolina Arboretum will celebrate World Bonsai Day by fully displaying its bonsai exhibit to the public for the first time in the 2017 calendar year.
Bonsai curator Arthur Joura will host two guided tours of the Bonsai Exhibition Garden starting at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. Tours will last approximately 30 minutes and visitors will learn general information about the art of bonsai and the Arboretum’s Bonsai Exhibition Garden, and also receive “behind the scenes” information about the specific specimens in the Arboretum’s bonsai collection.
Interested participants should meet in the upper level of the Bonsai Exhibition Garden pavilion.
