Parting Ways and Cutting Ties: An Upcycled Workshop
September 22, 29 and October 6 • 2:00-3:30pm
Instructor Nica Bello
This workshop series is designed for an adult/child duo. Classes cost $75 for all 3 classes for the group of 2. Minimum age of 6 required.
This fun fiber class is designed for an adult and child to experience together. Over the course of the class your creative team will learn how to turn old and unwanted fabrics into yarn and then weave them into great unusable items such as rugs and scarves. Join this class to learn weaving techniques, be creative and spend quality time with your kid!
Class#1 DIY Yarn
Old/ nostalgic T-shirts (at least 3)
Unwanted Linens (preferably woven, bed sheets or table cloth)
OPTIONAL denim Jeans, long dresses/dress shirts, or old sweaters.
(If you feel so compelled to bring that special something not listed, bring it!)
We want plenty of usable material to work with, think of colors or patterns that may work well together or an over all theme in mind.
Class #2 Project Planning
All DIY Yarn made since last class
This class is all about putting it together...which ever project you most desire, whether it be decorative or utilitarian.
You will be introduced to some basic steps to achieve the project most fitting for the material you have provided and we will create a visual representation of the final product to guide through to the next week.
Rugs, bags, wall hangings, blankets, scarves, hats, hair and body accessories...there are endless possibilities!
Class #3 Problem Solving / Show & Tell
The goal of this last class is to have a finished project and show it off OR fix any issues that may have come up within the last week!
