Trail runners or hikers looking to put in some mileage, this one is for you! Supported hiking on the beautiful 30 mile Art Loeb Trail, summitting 6000' peaks in the Balsam Range of the Blue Ridge. Hike or run on your own with a guide stationed for food or first aid every 8 to 12 trail miles.
The hike will meet in Brevard, NC at 6:00am. Please be on time. A guide will meet you with snacks for the first leg, along with any gear requests and will provide transportation to the trailhead. Waterproof trail maps will be available for purchase before the start of the trip, or you may borrow one of ours. Headlamps are required.
Again, the hiking is not guided, but supported. A guide will show you trail markers to follow to get you started and will be available approximately every 8-12 trail miles in order to help with food, first aid, or water. The hike begins at the Daniel Boone Boy Scout Camp trailhead. From there, you will follow the Art Loeb Trail across the entire Balsam Range (at elevations of 6000'+) to wind down into Davidson River Campground in Pisgah National Forest; 30 miles of incredible views and rugged terrain! This is a difficult hike that is ideal for guests who are comfortable following trail markers and who have hiking or trail running experience.
