The Old Chevrolette Set Goes Honky Tonkin’
Sunday, February 25 - 7:30 p.m.- The Old Chevrolette Set. Classic Honky Tonk Country. $10 advance/$12 door.
On Sunday, February 25 at 7:30 p.m. the White Horse Black Mountain will take on the ambiance of a vintage honky tonk reverberating with the strains of danceable classic country duets provided by The Old Chevrolette Set. The band’s name is itself a nod to lyrics from George Jones and Tammy Wynette’s 1973 hit “(We’re Not) The Jet Set”, a clear indication of the musicians’ prime inspirations, which also include Gram and Emmylou, Loretta and Conway. True country fans don’t need the last names to know what to expect.
Singer/guitarists Parish Ellis and Laura Blackley are the up front vocal duo with an old-school vibe, while Tom Pittman, host of WNCW’s “Country Gold” bathes the songs in pedal steel guitar shimmer. The group is rounded to by the rhythm section comprised of Steve Frankel on bass and Keith Buchanan on drums. Good times and good music that would make George and Tammy proud are guaranteed whenever The Old Chevrolette Set steps onstage.
