Celebrate Independence Day with your family, friends, guests, and the Swannanoa Valley Museum on a 1.5-mile, moderate hike to the peak of Sunset Mountain while volunteers truck your own chairs, coolers of drinks/food up to the viewing area. At the top we stop at a clearing that looks straight out onto where the city fireworks put on their show. Museum guests will enjoy an old-fashioned watermelon cutting, and then stay to watch the sun set and the fireworks explode over the town of Black Mountain. Note that you must register and pay a fee, this is a wonderful fundraiser for the museum.
$50 for museum members, $65 for general admission. $35 for under 18. Some fees apply.
