Living Dead in Denmark is VERY loosely based on Shakespeare’s Hamlet and, as the title implies, involves the dead coming back to life. Following the events of its source material, Living Dead… opens with Ophelia rising from the dead to find zombies are fully in power, led by a zombie Dark Lord. Recruited to fight for the “living resistance,” Ophelia teams up with some of the most famous of Shakespeare’s women, Juliet and Lady Macbeth. What follows is a crazy battle against evil, involving many of The Bard’s characters from his well-known works. As you might guess, pandemonium does ensue.

Director Deanna Braine Smith asks audiences, “What's not to love? Strong female leads? We've got those. Epic fight scenes? Hell yeah. Zombies? Tons of them!”

Deanna, Montford’s Staff Fight Choreographer also talked about her own love of the play: “This play features three of Shakespeare's most well-known female roles, but as strong characters in their own right, given the chance to fight to make the future they want for themselves. Plus, the chance to create so many amazing fights is an absolute dream come true.”

The cast for Living Dead in Denmark is filled to the brim with Montford Park Players veterans. Ophelia is played by the brilliant Trinity Smith Keel and she’s more than ably backed by Gabby Bailey as Juliet ad Sarah Felmet as Lady Macbeth. The rest of the cast includes Brooks Wallace, David Broshar, Jered Shultz, Aaron Ybarra, Brendan Nickerson, Emmy Frost, Kai Strange, Darren Marshall and MANY others!

Living Dead in Denmark is a new show and a new direction for Montford Park Player’s but is the perfect show for the Halloween season. This action/adventure/horror/comedy promises plenty of blood, gore and profanity and, were it to carry a movie rating, it would be Rated R.
