New Orleans’ Extended Trio Stretches Out at the White Horse
Sunday, June 24 - 7:30 p.m.- Extended. Jazz. $10 advance/$12 door.
The White Horse Black Mountain’s Wednesday Jazz series is well established as a standing date to catch top flight local and regional talent. But there’s such an abundance of great jazz coming to the area that one designated night just can’t contain it all, so on Sunday, June 24 at 7:30 p.m. the White Horse is proud to welcome the New Orleans-based Extended Trio for a special visit.
Extended is a young piano trio built around Brad Webb on drums, Matt Booth on bass, and Oscar Rossignoli on piano. All of them compose for the group with the particular musical personalities of the group foremost in mind, an approach that has thrilled locals and destined to reach audiences nationally and internationally.
Their 2017 debut LP, released on Breakfast 4 Dinner records, has received critical praise for its distinctive compositions and dynamic group interplay. Following the album's release, Extended toured within the country and continues to play shows that leave audiences invigorated and fulfilled. As the world knows, New Orleans knows no shortage of highest caliber of players, but in the last year locals have been thrilled to see Extended find a place among its brightest stars.
"These three musicians sound as if they were destined to play with each other. Their interactions, improvisations and the seamless way their compositions flow from cut to cut feel instinctive. Extended exemplifies creativity." Geraldine Wyckoff, online critic for OffBeat.com, is an enthusiastic fan of Extended, and they’re bound to generate many more with their Black Mountain tour stop.
