Explore with us the legacy of Malinda Russell, the first known Black woman cookbook author in the country and a native of east Tennessee. She self-published A Domestic Cookbook: Containing a Careful Selection of Useful Receipts in 1866, soon after the Civil War. Join internationally renowned and award winning culinary leaders — Ronni Lundy, Toni Tipton-Martin, Dr. Leni Sorensen, Ashleigh Shanti and Dr. Cynthia Greenlee — as they discuss the quest to flesh out the life story of this culinary pioneer about whom little is known. Guests will enjoy a curated dinner inspired by the historic recipes.
