Welcome all artists, writers, and history buffs! Preserving a Picturesque America is an organization that revisits sites depicted in the book, “Picturesque America". These places were painted by adventure artists in the late 1800's and were influential in the early conservation movement in the United States. PAPA invites artists and writers to return to those same vantage points from the early book and create a contemporary rendition of the view. Preserving A Picturesque America is dedicated to the preservation of historic and natural sites. We are once again partnering with Asheville Urban Landscape Painters. We will be painting Chimney Rock from the patio of Hickory Nut Gorge Brewery which is one of the vantage-point sites in the original Picturesque America publication. There is parking and restrooms at the Brewery. The brewery opens at noon. Please stay for a snack, lunch or beverage as a thank you to our host.
