Throughout their performing career, Robin and Linda Williams have developed a unique collection of Holiday and seasonal songs resulting in "Brightest and Best - A Holiday Concert." Robin and Linda include distinctive renditions of traditional Holiday material, some familiar and some not, and their unique arrangements of lesser-known traditional pieces, many of which were put together for Robin and Linda's frequent appearances on "A Prairie Home Companion." And throw in a few choice covers from songwriters like Steve Earle, John Prine and Joni Mitchell, all beautifully played and sung. To this they add their charming stories and the result is a joyous evening that puts even the Scrooges of the world in the spirit of the season.
Some of these songs can be found on their Holiday album "The First Christmas Gift." Steering clear of the standard holiday hymns and carols, they recorded several new tunes for that album, ranging from the lazy, bluesy love song "Together, All Alone" to the gospel-themed title track.
For more than four decades now, Robin & Linda Williams have made it their mission to perform the music that they love, "a robust blend of bluegrass, folk, old-time and acoustic country that combines wryly observant lyrics with a wide-ranging melodicism." Today some might call it "Americana," but these two revered music masters were living and breathing this elixir 20 years before that label was turned into a radio format.
"Among contemporary country performers, Robin and Linda Williams shine like a diamond amid rhinestones..."
-- David W. Johnson, The Boston Globe
