There’s nothing quite like shaking off winter’s cabin fever and welcoming the warmer days of spring. Celebrate the new season’s arrival around the ponds at Charles D. Owen Park in Swannanoa during Buncombe County Recreation Services’ annual Bounce Into Spring family festival. The free festival is open to children and adults of all ages.
Buncombe County Public Libraries’ Swannanoa Branch will be on hand to foster imagination skills. LEAF Community Arts’ teaching artists will guide nature-inspired arts and craft projects. Other play stations include slacklining, soccer shoot out, foam-based bow and arrow, fishing pole casting targets, basketball shot, disc golf, and an agility course. The park also features a playground and picnic tables.
A kids' fishing tournament is the same day from 8:30 to noon at the park's ponds. On-site registration is $10 per child or teen under the age of 16.
