There’s nothing quite like shaking off winter’s cabin fever and welcoming the warmer days of spring. Celebrate the new season’s arrival around the ponds at Charles D. Owen Park in Swannanoa (875 Warren Wilson Rd.) during Buncombe County Recreation Services’ annual Bounce Into Spring family festival. The FREE festival takes place on Saturday, April 6, from 9 a.m.–noon and is open to children and adults of all ages.
Buncombe County Public Libraries’ Swannanoa Branch will be on hand to foster imagination skills. LEAF Community Arts’ teaching artists will guide nature-inspired arts and craft projects. Other play stations include slacklining, soccer shoot out, foam-based bow and arrow, fishing pole casting targets, basketball shot, disc golf, and an agility course. The park also features a playground and picnic tables.
Charles D. Owen Babe Ruth League’s opening day will also take place adjacent to the festival on the park’s baseball fields. League volunteers will operate a concession stand with proceeds benefiting the league’s programs.
