AVL Food Series: Chef Experience Dinner with Sera Cuni and Tie Whittaker

Sera Cuni owns Root Cellar Café in Chapel Hill and Café Root Cellar in Pittsboro. Trained in culinary arts, she started in Connecticut, inspired by her family's traditions. She founded Feed-Well Fridges in August 2023, a nonprofit in Chatham County, providing nearly 15,000 pounds of food and meals. Learn more at feedwellfridges.org.

Tie’s love of pastry began with her grandmother. She founded Buttermilk Boutique in 2015, specializing in luxurious desserts with southern flavors and local ingredients. She has been featured in various publications and competed on Food Network. She is a Got To Be NC Culinary Ambassador and NCRLA’s 2021 Pastry Chef of the Year.
