This year’s Asheville Fringe Arts Festival (AFAF) will be its most fearless yet, with dozens of performances that push the boundaries of art in our community. “This year we have performances that include a wide variety of genres with some surprising themes that have emerged that seem to be in a direct response to the current social climate and events, which makes the festival extremely relevant and exciting”, says Jim Julien, Co-Artistic Director. Some themes that have emerged this year are Raw Emotion, Wildly Weird, Experimental Art and Social Justice. There are over 30 ticketed performances and several Random Acts of Fringe (which are free to the public).Shows run Thursday, January 25 through Sunday, January 28 at 7 & 9pm (earlier on Sunday). Don’t forget to catch the after-parties each night where you can meet the artists and chat about your favorite Fringe shows! There will also be Random Acts of Fringe at each after party. The full list of performances and artists, the festival schedule, show descriptions, and after party details will be posted on the website www.ashevillefringe.org by December 15. Freak Pass tickets will go on sale at that time. Freak Passes allow the ticket holder to see as many shows as they can fit in (usually about 8 shows) for one low price of $50.00. Individual tickets for each show range between $13-$16 and will go on sale January 1. See www.AshevilleFringe.org for ticketing links.
