Just as the natural world slows down in autumn, we, too, feel the urge to move inward, literally and figuratively, and reflect on our own life cycles. Creating a “curiosity cabinet” is a great way to organize and process your experiences.
In this thought (and feeling!) provoking workshop, Mixed Media artist Kate Corcoran will show you how to arrange natural and manmade objects to create a one-of-a-kind piece of art. Your curiosity cabinet might reflect a particular theme, mood, etc., or it might simply be a hodgepodge of interesting things.
Kate will begin by suggesting ways to build a collection of found objects. Then, she’ll demonstrate—and you’ll practice—preserving natural objects. Next, you’ll learn how to juxtapose, layer, and secure natural and manmade objects to create a pleasing composition. And, finally, Kate will show you how to finish your assemblage.
