Hailing from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, our Brewmaster Scott Hettig started as an avid homebrewer who found himself looking for a career change. He was offered an apprenticeship at a Milwaukee Brewpub where he discovered his true calling. From there, Scott was offered a full time Assistant Brewer position in Cleveland, Ohio. After a year studying under two different Brewmasters, Scott returned to Milwaukee to accept a Brewmaster position at a new Brewpub where he developed hundreds of recipes over nearly nine years. Scott also took the opportunity to study for a year in Germany. A desire to escape Wisconsin winters brought Scott southward--first for a year at a Mississippi start-up production brewery before landing in Asheville and taking the reins at 12 Bones Brewing. When he's not brewing, Scott enjoys cooking, woodworking, sausage-making, and hiking.
