Charlotte NC-based culinary expert Heidi Billotto has been writing about local food, restaurants and chefs first for print and then for print and digital publications since the early 1980's.
She shares her food and travel stories, culinary adventures and lots of delicious ways to eat and drink locally on her website at HeidiBillottoFood.com and is a free-lance writer for several local and regional publications. Between articles and posts, Heidi appears regularly on Charlotte's WCNC-TV and Raleigh's WRAL-TV with monthly cooking segments, 3-day weekend travel segments; eat and drink local features and a monthly restaurant roundups.
She is the co-organizer and host of the annual NCRLA Chef Showdown and enjoys the pleasure of working hand-in-hand with the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and the NCRLA to promote the way chefs cook across the Carolinas.
Between columns, television & personal appearances, Heidi, a former James Beard Foundation judge, offers social media training to many local businesses and is a food stylist for many national chefs and cookbook authors visiting the Carolinas. She also teaches a regular schedule of cooking classes both in her home & on local farms.
In addition, Heidi conducts private in-home or office cooking classes for corporate team building & social gatherings. Her focus is on seasonal food & locally raised, grown, caught or made proteins, produce and products.
Heidi is married to well-known Charlotte singer and musician, Tom Billotto. The two often work together providing “food and mood” at private parties and corporate events.
