Haw River Mushrooms, LLC is a North Carolina family owned mushroom farm. We sell at four farmers markets , supply over a dozen restaurants, and we offer agritourism to over 1,000 visitors each year.

Having worked at farmers markets since 2012, we’ve observed that providing samples can increase sales by an average of 20%, so we have always prioritized having product samples. In the early years, we frequently made an oyster mushroom soup or brought a Coleman stove and cooked the mushrooms in butter. In 2016, we welcomed twin girls to the family, and for most of their first year they joined Laura at the Chapel Hill Farmers Market. Naturally, it was no longer practical to serve hot samples over a stove, so we researched and made our first batch of oyster mushroom jerky. We soon learned we were on to something when customers kept asking when they could purchase it and Laura found it was the perfect on-the-go snack for a busy farm-mom.
