Ashley English is the author of 10 books, including all four books in her Homemade Living Series (Canning & Preserving, Keeping Chickens, Keeping Bees, and Home Dairy) as well as A Year of Pies; Handmade Gatherings; Quench; A Year of Picnics; The Essential Book of Homesteading; and Southern From Scratch. She also does a good deal of freelance writing, both digital and print, and has been featured in a number of major domestic and international publications, including Food & Wine, Delish, Edible Magazines, and Anthology. Ashley has been a repeat guest on Martha Stewart Radio on SiriusFM, and is the subject of a film by Dark Rye, Whole Foods Market’s online magazine.
Ashley regularly teaches classes in the western North Carolina area. Topics have included: chicken-keeping, bee-keeping, canning & preserving, pie-making, creating dairy products, making homemade health & body care items, and crafting homemade beverages. She has also done a wide variety of public speaking engagements for a number of events, including the Mother Earth News Fair (Asheville, NC), the Organic Grower’s School, Edible Asheville, and Where Women Create.
