Sheri Castle is an award-winning professional food writer, recipe developer, cooking teacher, and speaker. She is known for melding storytelling, humor, and culinary expertise. She’s written more than a dozen cookbooks, six of which have her name on the cover and the rest for various clients (such as chefs, corporations, and celebrities) who rely on her culinary expertise and way with words when they want a cookbook.
Sheri is a Contributing Editor for Southern Living and writes regularly for a number of magazines and newspapers. She is the subject of five short documentaries on Southern food produced by A Spoken Dish and an oral history archived by the Southern Foodways Alliance. Sheri is a popular speaker and demo chef at culinary events across the South and is asked to cook on TV from time to time.
Her cooking classes garner a loyal following. One journalist observed, “Sheri Castle is one of the most brilliant recipe developers I know, a terrific writer, and her cooking classes are equal parts crucial info and laugh-until-you-drop trenchant observation.” Her colleagues say she has one of the best palates in the industry.
Sheri hails from Watauga County, but now lives in Fearrington Village, NC with spoiled pets. She’s thrilled that her grown daughter texts most days. Sheri is fueled by her beloved Appalachian Mountains, farmers’ markets, excellent bourbon, and the right word. Sheri believes that things happen to everyone, but stories happen to only those who can tell them. Check out shericastle.com.
