Ligaya Figueras is the food and dining editor and lead dining critic for The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Prior to joining the AJC in 2015, Ligaya spent nine years with St. Louis-based culinary magazine Sauce. She began as a freelance writer and was later hired as its staff writer before being named executive editor in 2013. Ligaya’s publishing career spans 20 years, and includes writing and editing food, travel, recreational and art stories for newspapers and magazines as well as editing memoirs, works of fiction and foreign language textbooks. She holds bachelor’s degrees in English and Spanish from St. Louis University and a master’s in Spanish from the University of Michigan. She is a passionate home cook, gardener and soccer player, and recently adding boxing to her hobbies.
