From loose-leaf tea grown in the mountains to sweet iced tea, the world’s second-most consumed beverage is at home in southern Appalachia. Enjoy an afternoon tea tasting of six artisanal varieties paired with sweet and savory treats, and participate in a lively discussion of flavor notes, health benefits, and sourcing of native ingredients. Plus, gain an understand of the history of tea and herbal infusions as well as the beverage’s influence on southern food heritage.

Come join us for an Afternoon Tea Tasting! Tea is a staple beverage for much of the world, and sweet iced tea is a fixture of southern culture and cuisine. Join Asheville Tea Company and other Asheville-area tea makers as we taste 6 artisan teas, and discuss the history of tea and herbal infusions and its influence on our southern food heritage. We will serve a tea flight, discuss flavor notes, sourcing, locally-grown and native ingredients, health benefits and historical context for each tea we taste, and enjoy a selection of sweet and savory afternoon treats paired with the teas.
