Winter Beer Fest Warms Up Downtown
For the seventh straight year, the Winter Warmer Beer Festival is bringing a little companionable coziness to these cooler winter months. Set to take place Saturday, January 25 at the ExploreAsheville.com Area of the US Cellular Center in downtown Asheville, this popular festival brings together local and regional breweries, as well as a couple of special guests, live music and delicious food.
This year's fest will feature 40 area breweries, including 10 Asheville ones. Beer scene newcomers Burial Brewing and Urban Orchard Cider will make an appearance, as will New Belgium and Sierra Nevada—both of which will be opening East Coast locations in the area over the next couple of years.
Festival organizers have also invited two "special guest" breweries—Big Storm from Florida and Surly Brewing from Minnesota—to mix things up and to give festival goers a taste of something new. In addition to beer, Strada will be offering fresh Italian street food, and Brushfire Stankgrass will provide the entertainment, with an opening set by Dave Desmelik.
The Winter Warmer Festival has sold out the past five years, so purchasing advanced tickets is highly recommended. Designated driver (DD) tickets are also available. See the festival's website for details.
