This spring, we announced that Highland Brewing Company--the oldest of Asheville's 19 craft breweries--was embarking on a serious brew schedule in honor of their 20th anniversary. The goal: to brew 20 limited-edition commemorative beers in 2014.

The first few anniversary beers were only revealed at the time of their tapping, but now we have list, complete with release dates so beer fans can plan ahead. Beer #4--Kelly's Kolsch--sold out in two days.

More about The List:
  • 10 archived recipes, 10 new creations
  • 3 collaborations
  • 4 available in Western N.C. only
  • 4 others available in N.C. only
  • 4 “Big Batches” available in a collectible bottled series

This Friday, look for anniversary beer #7, the Rosslyn Red IPA. From Highland, "We brewed this spicy ale with our friends from Green Man Brewing Co. Reddish in color, this brew gets its subtle spiciness from the rye. Brewed with mostly German malts, German Opal hops and the aromatic American hop varieties Palisade and Santiam. The name for this collaboration brew was inspired by Rosslyn Chapel in Scotland, which has more carvings of the Green Man on it than any other structure in the world."

In addition to the anticipated beer release, visitors to Highland this weekend can also expect live music by Bobby Miller & the Virginia Dare Devils on Friday and Jump Yur Grin on Saturday.
