2019 is on the horizon, and in Asheville you can ring in the New Year with a number of spirited celebrations planned throughout town. Here are the top picks for New Year’s Eve events this year. 

Asheville New Year's Eve Celebrations At-A-Glance

Asheville Symphony OrchestraAsheville Symphony Orchestra’s New Year’s Celebration – US Cellular Center, 8:00 p.m.: The Asheville Symphony in collaboration with Cirque Musica presents Crescendo, a high-flying, full-sensory experience that features acrobats, jugglers, contortionists and other thrilling acts. This is combined with musical favorites from classical, pops, and more.

New Year’s Eve at Biltmore: There are a number of celebrations planned around the Estate for New Year’s Eve. At the Inn on Biltmore, they’ve planned a four-course feast, live music, the traditional midnight toast and a dazzling fireworks display! Also at the Inn, make reservations for the Black-Tie Gala. Special packages are available that include invites to pre and post-VIP party receptions.

Midnight Masquerade New Year’s Eve Party at Capella on 9 – AC Hotel Asheville Downtown, 9 p.m.: High atop the AC Hotel in downtown, you’ll find Capella on 9, a rooftop lounge with amazing views of the city and surrounding mountains. This New Year’s Eve, experience the tradition of the Venetian Carnival with a Midnight Masquerade. Dueling DJs, hors d’oeuvres and a welcome cocktail by Asheville’s own Chemist Gin are planned. A complimentary champagne toast is planned at midnight. Dress to impress and wear your festive masquerade mask for a night in disguise. Doors open at 9 pm. The first 100 tickets are available at $55 and will then increase to $75 so be sure to get your tickets early.

Omni Grove Park Inn SunsetNew Year’s Eve Heritage Celebration – The Omni Grove Park Inn: At Asheville’s most storied resort they’ll be ringing the New Year with a Heritage Celebration Dinner Show featuring Tapestry: The Carol King Songbook. Special packages are available that includes two nights of accommodations, breakfast for two, tickets to Tapestry and entry to the New Year’s Eve nightclub party featuring Oh No Stereo. You also get two tickets to a comedy show taking place at the resort that weekend.

Yo Mama's Big Fat Booty Band - Grey Eagle, 8 p.m.: Grab your dancing shoes and get ready for a funk-filled night with one of Asheville’s favorite and iconic bands. The Booty Band’s high-energy live show is an absolute must see! On the band's website, band members describe themselves as “a musical experience rather than simply a band” with “all facets of funk wrapped into one deliciously deviant package.”

River Whyless PerformsRiver Whyless - The Orange Peel, 8 p.m.: River Whyless returns home to perform their first show in the states after their UK tour. The band, whose members were born in Asheville, plays music that has been described as folk-rock, nature-pop, and baroque-folk. They’re playing at The Orange Peel, one of the top music clubs in the country according to Rolling Stone magazine.

New Year’s Eve Party - The Montford Rooftop Bar, 9 p.m.: Enjoy a party on the rooftop at The Montford, located atop the Hyatt Place Hotel in downtown Asheville. This intimate event requires a ticket, which includes three drinks of your choice, two small plate offerings, a midnight champagne toast and party favors.

3rd Annual New Year’s Eve Ball in the Hall with The Grass is Dead – Asheville Music Hall, 10 p.m.: The Grass is Dead band is a bluegrass combo paying homage to the music and cultural legacy of The Grateful Dead. The band will likely have you smiling ear-to-ear come midnight..

Yarn with Josh Shillings and Friends – Isis Restaurant and Music Hall, 9 p.m.: Multiple Grammy-nominated Yarn will be performing alongside Josh Shilling at Isis Music Hall in West Asheville. The band will be performing an entire set of Yarn’s music along with selections from the The Band’s, The Last Waltz. Asheville’s Taylor Martin will open.

37th Annual Epic New Year’s Eve Bash – Grove House Complex, 8 p.m.: Good things come in threes! At the Grove House they’re celebrating New Years with three dance floors, three DJ’s, and three balloon drops. Better yet, those balloons have money inside! The party starts at 8:00 p.m., and they’ll be providing heavy hors d'oeuvres, desserts, party favors.

Pack’s Tavern New Year’s Eve Buffet and Countdown to 2019: Pack’s Tavern in downtown Asheville has two special events planned. At 6:30 p.m., enjoy a gourmet buffet, but be sure to get your tickets early as this will sell out! Tickets for the buffet are $60 and include your admission to the dance party. At 9:30 p.m., the second party kicks off with A Social Function playing in the Century Room & DJ MoTo at the South Bar! Pack’s Tavern will provide party hats, favors, and $19 bottles of bubbly. 

NYE Masquerade Ball – Save Me the Waltz Jazz Bar, 9 p.m.: The party at this chic new bar in the lower level of downtown's historic S&W building will feature five-piece jazz band The Inkwell, with special vocalists featured throughout the night. A DJ will take over after midnight until 2 a.m. The $25 ticket includes a champagne toast at midnight, and drink specials and a light food menu will be available throughout the evening. Dress to impress; masks encouraged!

Buxton Hall's NYE Dance Party and Punk Wok: Buxton Hall is bringing back Punk Wok, the highly-anticipated Asian-inspired dinner, in all of its metal-studded glory. The Elvis records will start spinning on New Year's Eve, with dinner served from 6-9:30 p.m., followed by a New Year's Eve Dance Party featuring DJ Marley Carroll from 10:30 p.m. to the wee hours of the night. At just $10 a pop, attendees will enjoy hit records, plenty of room to dance and a complimentary bubbly toast at midnight. Buxton's regular dinner menu will also be available in the main dining room. New Year’s Eve with The Free Flow Band – Twisted Laurel Downtown Asheville, 9 p.m.: Ring in 2018 at Twisted Laurel's beautiful location in downtown Asheville. Enjoy seasonally inspires hors d'oeuvres, a champagne toast and a breakfast buffet at midnight. Live old school and R&B starts at 9:00 p.m.

Keg Drop at Thirsty Monk 20166th Annual New Year's Eve Keg Drop -- Thirsty Monk South Asheville: New York City drops a ball, Atlanta drops a peach and Miami drops an orange. In Asheville, we drop a keg! A two-story golden keg will be lit up and glowing on New Year’s Eve, descending at midnight as Thirsty Monk taps a keg to help you toast to the New Year! New Year's Day Special Events

Join a ranger at Chimney Rock State Park for the First Day Hike of 2019. The hike begins at the Park's front gate (meet at Old Rock Cafe in Chimney Rock Village at 8 a.m.) and continues up Chimney Rock Road. Learn about Chimney Rock's rich history and unique features as you hike to the base of the Park's Chimney. At the end of the hike, enjoy hot chocolate and coffee.

For the real thrill seeker, take part in the 11th Annual Lake Lure New Year's Day Polar Plunge. Registration begins at 10 a.m. and the Polar Plunge is at noon.
