It's not quite surf and turf, but this weekend's Oysterfest will bring the flavors of the ocean to the Asheville Outdoor Center. It all takes place on Saturday, October 15 from 3-10PM and there you will enjoy oysters, bbq, pizza, live music and games.
Better yet, this is a benefit for Manna Food Bank which does critical work to feed the hungry in Western North Carolina. Admission to the event is 5 non-perishable food items. You can also gain admission by donating a lightly used coat.
The weather is going to be nice so why not bring a swimsuit and go kayaking, canoeing or rafting down the seven miles of the French Broad River? The outfitter also has stand up paddleboarding available. It should be especially beautiful with the fall leaves changing. The Asheville Outdoor Center has been in business since 1992 and the staff have over 25 years of experience in outdoor recreation.
