The Grove Park Inn Labor Day Beach Music Weekend is the perfect excuse to break out your dancing shoes for two nights of music and dancing. Beach Music Parties are planned for both Saturday and Sunday nights. The Montford Park Players present Richard II. This free outdoor performance will be delivered in the style of steampunk opera, giving Shakespeare an Asheville edge. The performance begins at 7:30 PM, Friday and Saturday night (Aug. 31 - Sept. 1) at the Hazel Robinson Amphitheater in Montford. On Sunday, Sept. 2 the performance has a different time and location. The show will begin at 1:00 PM at the Roger McGuire Green at Pack Square Park downtown. Here are the full details.
Shindig on the Green is one of Asheville's most popular mountain music events. Bring a lawn chair or a blanket to the Roger McGuire Green and Pack Square Park to enjoy this free celebration. The music starts Saturday, September 1, at 7:00 PM.
Biltmore Summer Concert Series presents Foreigner: With a catalog of multi-platinum gems including "Cold As Ice," "Juke Box Hero," "I Want To Know What Love Is" and critically-acclaimed wonders from the 2009 "Can't Slow Down" album—Foreigner is a band continually forging new musical peaks. LAAFF (aka Lexington Avenue Arts & Fun Festival). Saturday kicks off this two day festival with an Asheville pub crawl. One wrist band gains you access to all venues with bands planned at each stop along the way. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 the day of the event. This event runs from 5:00 PM - 11:00 PM. Buy tickets here. On Sunday, this family-friendly festival offers such oddball antics as bike jousting, a stuffed animal toss and street performances by Asheville's many vagabond buskers. Live music will be performed on the main stage and the event is free to all.
The Asheville Youth Orchestra & Asheville Symphony will play back to back shows on Monday, September 3, starting at 5:30 PM at the Roger McGuire Green at Pack Square Park downtown.
