The Governor of NC and the mayors of Asheville, Hendersonville and Flat Rock have all dubbed July as Stained Glass Month. To celebrate, the American Glass Guild (the same group that facilitated bringing the current Tiffany exhibit to Biltmore) is hosting a conference in Asheville from July 21 - 24 at the Crowne Plaza Resort. However, there are other events starting July 18 that lead up to the conference.
From the official Press Release:
The 3-day conference will be preceded by hands-on workshops. A glass fusing workshop by Brad Walker will be held at A Touch of Glass in Asheville July 18-20. The workshops on July 21 are traditional glass painting, traditional mosaics, and conservation gluing. The actual conference kicks off with a free presentation on Thursday night at 7:30, followed by three days packed with discussions, demonstrations and slide shows. And you don’t have to be a member to attend! Nor do you have to attend everything. Look on the website, choose what you want to see and register right there; daily conference rates are available for you to choose to attend what particularly appeals to you. Experts from around the world will share their thoughts on current thinking in the top conservation centers, how to make a success of a stained glass business, the history of the art form, and what is being produced now, both here and abroad.
