Flashback: The Pruitts of Southampton

Biltmore's TV Land Past.

The Internet is full of hidden treasures. Check out this promo from an ABC show that aired back in 1966. Recognize that abode? From the looks of it not much has changed to the Biltmore facade in the almost 50 years since this aired. The interior shots featured in the show were filmed elsewhere - most likely a studio in California.

The Show
The Pruitts of Southampton, featured stand-up comedian Phyllis Diller. The show's premise was about a wealthy family turned broke. To recoup their losses they turn their mansion into a boarding house, and consequently open their doors to a motley crew of zany characters. After a year, this show was renamed The Phyllis Diller Show, however only 30 episodes were filmed before ABC pulled the plug.
