Festivals Liven Up Summer Events CalendarMusic, food & art mingle at Asheville-area happenings
|Shindig on the Green kicks off June 28.|
Some of Asheville's most popular fests kicked off in early May, but this weekend brings a rush of notable events and leads the way into a summer of tapping toes and outdoor get-togethers.
Ten days of Asheville Beer Week celebrations, dinners and events culminate in the fifth annual Beer City Festival in Pack Square Park. The nearby town of Black Mountain hosts the 17th annual Arts & Crafts Show, a free event featuring 65 juried vendors. And the RiverMusic Concert Series gets going along the banks of the French Broad River with live Afrobeat music from Oregone and The Horse You Rode In On, local food trucks and craft brewers.
Looking into June
On June 7, the All Go West Music Festival takes over West Asheville with a full day of free music, featuring 33 musical acts on three stages. Downtown After Five returns to Lexington Avenue on June 20, with headliner Drivin' n' Cryin', plus lots of local food and craft beer. And on June 28, the weekly summer series Shindig on the Green arrives at Pack Square Park with eight evenings of old-time and bluegrass music, storytelling, clogging and more.
Later This Summer
Be sure to catch the popular Big Crafty festival in July, featuring handmade gifts, jewelry, cards and art. And pack a big appetite for this year's Asheville Wine & Food Festival in August.
