Asheville loves a good celebration and Easter weekend is no exception. With beautiful weather predicted this is a great year to experience one or all of these Easter themed events.
A family-friendly celebration of Easter traditions will be held on Roger McGuire Green at Pack Square Park. This event will feature a large scale Easter egg hunt for kids, races, games and creative activities. Various downtown businesses have added a little fun to the egg hunt by providing gift certificates and freebies inside the eggs. The Easter Bunny will be making his rounds as well. Kid friendly music and entertainment is planned. The free event begins around 2PM.
Wake up early this Sunday April 24 and head out to Chimney Rock Park for their annual sunrise service. Gates open at 5 a.m. for the complimentary 6:30 a.m. service. This special interdenominational service will be filled with song, scripture, special music and spectacular sunrise views over beautiful Lake Lure and Hickory Nut Gorge. John Mason, the Park’s featured hammered dulcimer player, will perform. Arrive early, dress warmly and bring a flashlight.
Another great annual Asheville event will be taking place on Sunday April 24 on the beautiful grounds of the Biltmore. Easter Egg Hunts are planned for 11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. Registration begins two hours before each hunt, and closes 15 minutes before the hunt. Enjoy children's music and stories, magic shows, games, and take photos with the Easter Bunny. Activities at Antler Hill Village & Winery will include music at the Barn, on the Village Green and a Grape Stomp at the Winery from 2:00-5:00 p.m.
This completely different kind of Easter "hunt" teams take a journey around downtown Asheville as they scavenge through the area's history, culture, unique shops and community organizations in search of Super Bun (short for Bunny). Along the way, they will interact with local musicians, merchants and actors as they help you complete your quests through a variety of riddles, trivia and challenges. Registration opens at 1:00 p.m. at the Asheville Brewing Company on Coxe Ave.
