Blue Spiral 1 is featuring the work of nearly 15 premier Southern artists working in wood. With extraordinary sculpture, turned objects, wall mounted panels, and some furniture — Wood Moving Forward will be a survey of the progressive and dynamic work being made by regional artists in the medium. It will feature work by both mid-career artists who continue to make strong contributions to the field alongside a few regarded emerging talents. The exhibition is scheduled to run July 1 - September 30, 2011, with an opening reception the evening of Thursday, June 30th.
Grovewood Gallery is featuring 19 top wood turning artists from the entire US. This exhibition will include wall mounted pieces as well as pedestal mounted large, medium, and small pieces. The title of the exhibition is A Wood Collectors’ Home and will be up July 1, 2011 and run through October 2, 2011.
The Baker Center Exhibit Hall of The North Carolina Arboretum is mounting an international exhibition of 45 of the most outstanding wood artists in the world. The (draft) title of the exhibition is Emerging Patterns: an international invitational exhibition of woodturning and is running from now through September 5, 2011. Show hours: 9 AM to 5 PM every day, including holidays.
