Actor in town to research upcoming film roleUPDATE: The folks at Punk Wok pop-up restaurant (hosted on Mondays and Tuesdays at
MG Road), are
reporting via twitter that Law dropped by for dinner on Tuesday night.
More than 10 years after Jude Law played a Western North Carolina soldier in the movie
Cold Mountain (filmed primarily in Romania), he has turned up in Asheville preparing to portray one of the area's most renowned natives.
Law is set to play novelist Thomas Wolfe in the film
Genius. During his time in Asheville, he reportedly dropped by the
Thomas Wolfe Memorial in downtown Asheville and brushed up on his history at Pack Memorial Library.
After hours, Law enjoyed dinner at
Bouchon and satisfied his sweet tooth at the
French Broad Chocolate Lounge.
The film, which is an adaptation of A. Scott Berg's biography
Max Perkins: Editor of Genius, will focus on the life of Perkins, who worked with Ernest Hemingway and F. Scott Fitzgerald, in addition to Wolfe. Perkins, spent summers in Asheville at the
Grove Park Inn in the 1930s, will be played by Academy Award-winning actor Colin Firth. Nicole Kidman will also co-star as one of Wolfe's love interests.
