Bundle up the family and head down to the station for one of two unique holiday experiences. Trains, which once brought industry and visitors to Western North Carolina, now offer a holiday excursions, complete with hot chocolate and cookies!

This Saturday and next (December 14 & 21) the historic Craggy Mountain Line is hosting the second annual Jingle Bell Trolley Train Run. Tickets are $10 for passengers over 3, and Santa and Mrs. Claus will be there to greet the children as well. Trains run hourly from 4-8 p.m., and reservations are recommended.

Or head over to Bryson City and Great Smoky Mountains Railroad and hop on board the Polar Express! This 75-minute excursion winds through the mountains all the way to the North Pole, where the train picks up a very special passenger! Santa greets each child on the return trip and presents them with the first gift of Christmas--their very own jingle bell. Adult tickets start at $40 per person.
